On the plane, bound to Gran Canaria

After two weeks of living in an RV, sleeping every night in a different place, exploring the best of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, we are about to hop on the next island, Gran Canaria. Despite the obvious little things that camping out involves, we actually really enjoyed a life stripped to the core, where every drop of water matters (showers for exmple are almost a luxury), where sunrise and sunset mark the beginning and the end of the day, where the main worry is finding the next beach to camp at. Everything had to be tidy, but i think we did a great job at it...Silvia even managed to optimize all the groceries we had, creating menus for all the last meals not to waste any food.
It was a simple life, but we loved it.
I had my fix of birdwatching, seeing a lot of the species that are endemic or are characteristic of the islands...only the houbara bustard escaped me, but i will come back to check it off my must-see list! As far as birding is concerned, the highlight was definitely the cream-colored courser, in my opinion the most beautiful bird of the western palearctic, a 'desert shorebird' that had become legendary in my mind. It was a brief appearance, but enough to acknowledge each other, and that is enough for me.
We will miss Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, but look forward to exploring what lies ahead in Gran Canaria, La Palma and Tenerife -and possibly set sail to the other two gems of the Canaries, La Gomera and El Hierro...

The last picture refers to Cofete, a secluded beach on the southern side of Fuerteventura we were unable to reach, as the road was too messed up for our RV...next time...
